One week ago I decided it was time to potty train Katherine, she turned two in April. The plan was to give it a try for a few days and see if she was ready. She was. Although she is still having many accidents, we have decreased from 7 to 4 pair of panties a day and I have not changed a dirty diaper in a week!
Can of 409 carpet cleaner $4.50
Package of very small panties $6.00
Package of pull-ups $15.00
A potty-trained 2 year old-priceless!
I believe we can always learn, there is always room for improvement. Although I have potty-trained two other childen I have learned so much more with Katherine:
1. Never put your toddler down for a nap in the Cool-Alert Pull-Ups. Evidently they get very very cold when the child urinates, which is a terrible way to be woke up from a nap.
2. Have a key to your children's rooms. Day two of potty training: Katherine is in little girl panties for the first time. She is playing in Lydia's room when Lydia decided to lock her door and close it behind her as she exited the room. One hour later Steve arrived and was able to get the door unlocked (she still had dry panties!)
3. Children can survive on suckers for breakfast...4 days in a row now...
This has been a successful first week, but we have many more to go. I think the keys to potty-training are time (Katherine went to the bathroom 9 times in the past 60 minutes) and patience.
